All four William Morris designs in one set

Three of the four patterns started with something Morris saw at home. The rose trellises in the garden of Red House became Trellis, his very first wallpaper design. The thrushes that stole his strawberries from the kitchen garden at Kelmscott Manor became Strawberry Thief. And the willows along the little stream at Kelmscott, where he pointed out 'the detail and variety in the leaf-forms' to his daughter May, became Willow Bough. The fourth, Pomegranate, is hung with pomegranates, oranges, lemons and peaches.

William Morris (1834-1896) was a designer, craftsman and poet, and a key figure in the Arts and Crafts movement. He didn't just draw his patterns, he dyed and embroidered himself too. In 1880 he gave a piece of advice that suits a pair of socks suspiciously well: 'Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.'

The patterns are knitted in, not printed: the colours are part of the sock itself. 80% organic cotton, 15% polyamide and 5% elastane.
